May 28, 2008

Skizum Studios Berlin proudly Presents the refreshingly informative, and untold story, Vietnam era veterans and their critical role in ending the war. Darnell Stephen Summers, a Vietnam vet who appears in the film, will be on hand to make a short speech about the film before it screens and answer questions after the film is over.

“I’ve seen plenty of Vietnam era films and documentaries over the years but this one really presented me with an entirely new perspective on the situation that I found to be very informative and enlightening; especially if you compare the similarities of today’s conflicts in the middle east.” – Scottie B

Potential Renaissance is the first of a series of projects to launch the search process for collaborators who wish to participate in the reincarnation of Skizum Studios; an online think tank to inspire, produce, support, showcase and document great conceptual thinking across a wide variety of disciplines.

The new Skizum Studios will be a home for promoting individual and collaborative conceptual projects for fun, art, and to create professional opportunities for participants while documenting their intellectual property.  Here is a link to the old site manifesto.  This is an opportunity to get involved at the root developmental level of Skizum or just as a general participant.

“INVITATION“ at In Girum… #5

An interactive dance installation at Dock 11, Berlin

Invitation is an interactive dance installation that breaks the boundaries between performer and audience. Dancers invite audience members to touch them anywhere on exposed skin. Audience members are free to touch or not to touch, to enter and leave the space, and to move through the installation at will.

The evening opens with the words: “This is an invitation to touch anywhere on exposed skin. You are free to touch, or not to touch. Please enter the space…“ posted on the wall. Dancers arrange and rearrange themselves, offering and withdrawing parts of the body as they compose their invitations to the audience. In the words of reviewer Adam Bliss, “As I moved about the installation, I was struck by the tenderness and intense concentration shared by dancers and touchers alike”.
